Bringing together the logistics prowess of DHL and the passion of our staff, the Public Sector Team is dedicated to providing professional logistics services to the International Aid, Humanitarian and Development sector.

In partnership with the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA

), DHL has an established network of specially trained employees who volunteer their time to be a part of our Disaster Response Teams (DRT).

DHL staff will train not only UN workers but also local groups such as customs officials and other key players in the delivery of relief supplies. One of these key players is the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) who DHL works with on an ongoing basis to conduct research and develop management tools to better equip and prepare the IFRC for disaster response

So far we have signed a bilateral memorandum of understanding (MOU) with eleven different countries in disaster-prone regions as the basis for our disaster-relief deployments. The MOU includes provisions governing the entry of our DRT volunteers into the respective country. These signed agreements facilitate and significantly accelerate any disaster-related deployments to those countries. In addition, the MOU allows the respective government to make a direct request for DRT deployment.
