Harmonized Tariff Schedule
The Harmonized Tariff Schedule consists of a list of numbers recognized throughout the world to classify commodities for importing and exporting. The harmonized code number is also used to assist customs with duty assessments.
It is helpful, and in some countries required, to have the code included on the
commercial invoice
. For exports in particular, these numbers are called Schedule B numbers and must be reported on a
Electronic Export Information (formerly known as Shipper’s Export Declaration)
